McCahill, Tigers continue unbeaten streak beating Terriers 49 – 0

Nathan McCahill completed 17 passes and four touchdowns as the Depauw Tigers (2-0) beat the Hiram Terrier’s (0-2) 49-0.

The Tigers entered Saturday’s contest for the third game of the season unbeaten. After their home opener rampage over Anderson 68-19, and with their win, they extended their winning streak to three games out of three so far this season.

The Terriers entered the game hoping to bounce back after back to back losses to start the season. After losing to both Heidelberg and Mount St. Joseph with a score of 68-14 and 62-21 respectively.
Hiram Head Coach Jack Mrozinski Jr’s squad lost last time around when facing the Tigers 44-0 last season, they were hoping to change their fate this time around, but in the end DePauw overpowered them offensively and took the points home.

Tigers dominated every quarter

This game was once again a very straightforward game for the Tigers as a result of the power they have offensively.

The Tigers opened the first quarter after a 63 yard kickoff from DePauw kicker Ben Gomez with Hiram running back Gabriel Hoskins returning 25 yards for Hiram’s first down.

The game pretty even in the first quarter, until quarterback Nathan McCahill with 3 minutes left in the first quarter gave a beautiful left pass to running back Jaylon Smith to rush 37 yard and put points on the scoreboard for the Tigers providing a 6-0 where later kicker Joseph Sullivan’s kick was good adding to the score now 7-0 vs Hiram, ending the first quarter. This sole touchdown in the first quarter became the prelude for what would become a smooth run for DePauw vs Hiram.

The second, third, and fourth quarter followed with complete domination from both the Tigers offense and defense against the Terriers. The Tigers completed touchdowns and kicks from: Nathan McCahill, Robby Ballentine, Mathew Berry, Gabe Quigley, Joseph Sullivan, and Gus Baumgartner respectively.

In the end the strength in the offense gave the Tigers the win, while the lack of anything in the offensive or defensive cabinet for Mrozinski and his squad ended in the loss for the Terriers.
