Stewart, Storm Win Third Straight

The Seattle Storm took home a 71-62 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks on Wednesday, making it their third straight victory, and second straight over the Sparks. 

Storm Power Forward Breanna Stewart caught fire with a 27-point double-double. Stewart was 8-15 from the field, and 2-5 from three-point range in 34 minutes.

Another major contributor for the Storm was Shooting Guard Jewell Loyd, who had 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. 

Leading the effort for Los Angeles was Point Guard Erica Wheeler, who had 22 points and 3 assists, accounting for 35% of the Sparks’ total points. Wheeler was 8-13 from the field and 1-1 from beyond the arc. 

Seattle took a 23-9 lead after the first quarter and would score 15 or more in each quarter of the game. The Storm are currently in first place in the WNBA standings with a 15-4 record, while the Sparks sit at 11thwith a 6-12 record, riding a 5 game losing streak. 

The Storm currently ranks 2nd in team points per game, 4th in rebounds, and 1st in assists. The four-time WNBA champions look to win their second straight WNBA championship this season.

The Storm will travel to Phoenix to face the Mercury on July 9 and July 11. The Sparks will head back to Los Angeles to host the Minnesota Lynx at Staples Center on July 11.
